1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Cream butter; add sugar. Add egg yolk, cream and vanilla, and mix well. Add flour which has been sifted with baking powder, and mix well. Form dough into small balls. Slightly beat remaining egg white. Dip balls into egg white, then into chopped nuts. Place onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Make a small indentation in center of each ball with thumb. Fill indentation with jelly or with red or green candied cherry halves. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 min. Handle carefully when removing cookies from sheet, for these cookies are quite fragile. If you place the dough in the refrigerator for several hours, they are easier to handle.Yield: 64 cookies.
