6 large dasheen bush leaves
1 lb. ground yellow peas (dahl)
2 teaspoons fresh minced garlic
2 tablespoons water (for mixing peas dahl mix)
3 cups cooking oil (for deep frying saheena)
Ground hot peppers to taste
Salt to taste (about 1 teaspoon)

Boil dahl for about 20 minutes.
Wash dasheen leaves. Drain and spread on tray.
Mix all other ingredients and make a paste.
Spread the paste on one leaf and attach second leaf over the already pasted leaf and continue on all leaves.
Roll all 6 leaves to make a long roll and cut into 1" slices.
Deep fry each slice until golden brown in a deep fryer.
Cool and serve with hot sauce or other sweet or sour sauces.
