1-1 1/2 loaf unsliced French Bread, 8 Eggs,
1 - 8 oz. Cream Cheese, cubed, 6 T. Margarine, melted,
2 1/2 C. whole Milk or Half & Half, 1/4 C. Maple Syrup

Cut bread in cubes (should be about 12 cups). Grease a 3 qt. rectangular
baking dish. Place 1/2 of bread cubes in dish. Top with cream cheese cubes & remaining bread cubes. Combine eggs, milk, melted margarine & syrup in a blender or a mixing bowl. Beat well. Pour egg mixture evenly over bread & cubes. Using a spatula, slightly press layers down to moisten. Cover & refrigerate 12-24 hours. Bake uncovered 325 for 35-40"

or until center appears set & edges are golden. Let stand 10" before serving. Serve w/powdered sugar or syrup. (If bake 2, add 15" to baking time).
This is a brunch favorite - serve with fruit, sausage casserole & grits.

BASIC FRENCH TOAST:

Whisk 4 Eggs with 1/2 C. Milk. Dip white bread slice in mixture and fry in buttered skillet. I sprinkle with sugar & cinnamon before I fry. You can put S&C before or after you fry. Serve with powdered sugar or syrup.
