3 pounds of Jonathan baking apples
Dash of salt
3/4 C. sugar
1/4 C. brown sugar
3 rounded T. Cornstarch
1/4 t. nutmeg
1/2 t. cinnamon

Crust:
1 C Wondra flour
Sprinkle of salt
1/3 C plus 1 T. butter flavored shortening
Crumb Topping:
3/4 C. flour
1/3 C. butter
1/2 C. sugar
1 t. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and slice apples, and mix with the dry ingredients and set aside.

For crust: Combine the flour and shortening with a hand mixer until crumbly. Add 2-3 T. of cold water, mix and form dough into a ball.
Overlap two pieces of waxed paper, place the dough on the paper, and top with another piece of waxed paper. Roll the dough to fit a 9" pie pan.

For topping: soften butter, and mix in the sugar, cinnamon and flour until crumbly.

Place apple filling in the crust, and place topping over the filling.

Bake at 450º for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 45-50 minutes until juices bubble and topping is golden.
