Ingredients:
Ingredients:
4 cups peeled and finely chopped nectarines about 3 pounds
2 T. of fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 box Sure-Jell fruit pectin
5 1/2 cups sugar
1/8 tsp. nutmeg or freshly ground nutmeg
pat of butter

Directions:
Directions:
Step 1: Prepare jars by washing in the dish washer or by hand with very hot soapy water then rinsed with hot water.
Step 2: Peel fruit with vegetable peeler or sharp knife. Chop the fruit finely
Step 3: In a deep pot put chopped fruit in with lemon juice and pour in the box of pectin, pat of butter and stir well and turn heat on to high. Stir the mixture while it comes to a rolling boil (when it boils although you are stirring it).
Step 4: Quickly add all the sugar and stir well, cook stirring until it comes to a rolling boil, then set timer for 1 minute.
Step 5: When timer goes off remove from heat, and stir in the nutmeg, then ladle out the hot jam into prepared jars to within 1/8 of inch of the top. The lids should be soaking in hot water that you boiled to soften the rubber around the lid. Clean off the top of the jars with paper towel dipped into hot boiling water so you will get a good seal with the lid. Put lid on and then screw the band onto each jar.
Step 6: Process jars in a steam canner or hot water bath canner for 10 minutes.
Step 7: Remove from the canner and put on a kitchen towel free of drafts for 24 hours to completely set. After opening a jar of jam store in the refrigerator.
