1 1/2c. Large seeded raisins
1 1/2c. dates
2 c. sugar
2c. boiling water
5T. shortening
3c flour
1tsp soda
2tsp. cinnamon
1tsp cloves
1tsp salt
1c chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Place the raisins, dates, sugar water and shortening in a saucepan and simmer gently for 20 mins. cool.
Sift flour once before measuring, then sift flour, soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt together.
Add a little flour to the first mixture, then add to dry ingredients. Pour into well greased and floured pans.
Bake 1 1/2 hours at 325º oven.
