Ingredients:
Ingredients:
10 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered (I use a few more to serve 13-14)
1 cup sour cream (I use l/3 less fat)
Two 3 oz packages cream cheese (I use 8 oz lower fat cream cheese)
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons onion salt (I do NOT use this. I sprinkle garlic salt in mine)
1/2 teaspoon white pepper (I use black pepper sprinkled)
4 Tabl. butter (I use l/2 stick Blue Bonnet margarine)

Directions:
Directions:
Boil the potatoes in salt water until tender; drain. Mash until smooth. Add the remaining ingredients; whip until smooth and creamy. Make ahead, if necessary, and reheat in a baking dish or slow cooker.

I do usually make ahead so we won't have the mess near the meal. Cover tightly. I bake with pats of butter on top, too until potatoes are hot and steamy.

Serves 8 to 14 depending on number and size of potatoes. If I use more potatoes, I do not double anything else in the recipe and it is still good.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
The grandkids always request this one. It has been a favorite for everyone except Grandpa, who still prefers the old recipe with no sour cream or cream cheese or garlic. But he eats them just the same.
