5 cups warm water
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup melted shortening ( lard )
2 tbsp. fermipan or quick rising yeast
6 cups whole wheat flour
5-6 cups unbleached white flour
1 tbsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Put warm water, lard and sugar into mixing bowl. Stir well. Add whole wheat flour and the yeast. Mix together. Knead in the white flour and salt. Add flour until the dough doesn't stick to hands or bowl.

Knead all together. If you have a bosch or other dough machine knead together for 6-8 min. Let rise 15 min., then punch down. Do this 3-4 times and then form into loaves. Let rise 1 11/2 hours or until about double in size. Bake at 350º for 30 - 45 min. Makes 6 loaves.

You can add raisins to make a nice raisin bread. This recipe can also be used for white bread by replacing the whole wheat flour with white flour.
