Use Transparent or Lodi Apples
1 Tbls butter
2 slices of bread
Sugar
Cinnamon
Nutmeg
Water

Melt butter in the skillet, slice apples and add the seasonings. Keep stirring as the apples cook down.

I never put the bread in the pan. When I asked Aunt Betty why she put bread in her reply was that is the way Mom made them. I suppose that made them go further. I never measure any of the sugar... it is just depending on your taste buds.
