1 C. Sugar
1 C. Shortening
2 Eggs
1 1/2 C. Molasses
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 1/2 tsp, Baking Soda
2/3 C. Sour Milk
2 tsp. Ginger
1 tbsp. Vanilla
5 1/2 C. Flour

Directions:
Mix all ingredients. Roll out 1/2 inch thick, cut out cookie, indent and add 1/2 tsp jelly and sprinkle with sugar before baking. Start banking at 350 degrees then lower temperature a little. Bake about 10 minutes.

I used to help Grandma Plunkett make these when I was a little girl. She lived with our family until her death in 1970.
