Ingredients: 1 egg 3 slices bacon, finely chopped 1 small onion, grated 2 tsp (10 mL) Dijon mustard 1 tsp (5 mL) Worcestershire sauce (gf) 1/2 tsp (2 mL) dried thyme Fresh rosemary Fresh basil 1/4 tsp (1 mL) each salt and pepper 1 lb (500 g) regular or lean ground beef or ½ lb lean ground beef and ½ lb ground pork 1/2 cup (125 mL) crumbled Canadian blue-veined cheese 4 hamburger buns
Toppings as desired (i.e. sliced tomatos, onions, pickels, lettuce, ketchup, relish, mustard, avocados)

Directions:1) Cook bacon in the oven or over the cooktop, then cut into small pieces.
2) In large bowl, beat egg.
3) Stir in bacon, onion, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt and pepper.
4) Mix in beef.
5) Divide into quarters; shape into balls.
6) With finger, make well in each ball; place one-quarter of the cheese in well.
7) Press meat over to enclose cheese. Press into four 3/4-inch (2 cm) thick patties.
8) Place patties on greased grill over medium heat; close lid and grill, turning once, until digital thermometer inserted sideways into centre of meat reads 160°F (71°C), 12 to 14 minutes.
9) Assemble buns, patties, and toppings. |
