½ cup soft shortening
¼ cup sugar
1 egg
1⅓ cups flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
¼ teaspoon soda
¼ teaspoon salt

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º
Blend together first 3 ingredients. Sift together with other ingredients and mix with other, Roll into marble sized balls. Roll balls in mixture of 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 1 ½ dozen.
