3/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter or other shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 squares baking chocolate, melted OR 1/3 c. cocoa
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Sift dry ingredients. Cream butter, blend in sugar and beaten eggs, beating until smooth and fluffy. Add vanilla and stir in melted chocolate or cocoa. Add flour mix gradually stirring well. Add nuts with a few last stirs.

Spread in a buttered 8 inch square pan. Bake in moderate oven (350º) for 20 minutes. Remove pan to cooling rack. Cut pieces while still warm and dip in powdered sugar.
