1 cup butter
1½ cup sugar
4 ounces (4 squares) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
*4 eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 baked 9" pie shell - cooled
Whip cream (topping before serving)

* Since the scare with eggs, I use pasteurized eggs or egg beaters

Beat the butter with sugar until well blended. Mixture should be smooth and fluffy. Blend in chocolate and vanilla.

Using an electric mixer at medium speed, beat in eggs, one at a time, taking 5 minutes to incorporate each.

Turn mixture into pie shell and chill for several hours. Garnish with whipped cream before serving. Refrigerate any leftover pie.
