1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
3 and 1/2 cups flour (plain)
1 teaspoon soda
2 teaspoons vanilla
pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugars. Add beaten eggs, nuts and dry ingredients.

Roll into five logs wrapped in Saran Wrap. Chill over night or until hard.

Cut logs into 1/8" slices.

Bake at 400º until brown. Watch cookies, they can burn very fast.

These were really good cookies. Keep dough away from small children, or you won't have any to bake the cookies.

These were my Aunt Ruth's favorite cookies and Mama and I used to make them for her and send them to the nursing home where she lives. They also went to her son (Edward) in Vietnam. He would not share these with his friends.
