1 CUP BUTTER, SOFTENED
1 3/4 CUP PLAIN FLOUR
1/2 TSP BAKING POWDER
1/2 TSP SALT
1/4 CUP SOUR CREAM
2 TBS FRESH LEMON JUICE
1 1/2 TBS LEMON ZEST
1 CUP SUGAR
5 LG EGGS AT ROOM TEMP, BEATEN

SYRUP: 1/4 CUP SUGAR AND 1/4 CUP LEMON JUICE
GLAZE: 1/2 CUP SIFTED CONFECTIONERS SUGAR
AND 1 TBS LEMON JUICE

CAKE:
Preheat oven to 325º. Grease & flour a loaf pan (9x5). Sift flour,
baking powder and salt into a small bowl. Set aside. In a large
bowl, mix the lemon zest and sugar together. Add butter and beat
until light and smooth. Add eggs and beat well. Add l/3 of the flour,
mix and add the sour cream and lemon juice. Beat in the rest of
the flour until smooth. Pour into loaf pan and bake approx. 60 to 70 minutes.
SYRUP:
While the cake is baking, mix together the syrup
ingredients and cook for a couple of minutes....approx. 2.
After the cake is out of the oven, brush the entire cake with
the syrup. Wait until the cake cools completely before
drizzling the glaze over it.
GLAZE:
Combine ingredients until smooth.
