1 cup seedless raisins or dried cranberries
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 cups quick cooked oats
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)


Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.

Measure flour and combine with, baking powder, baking soda, salt and spices. Stir into creamed mixture. Add oats, nuts and raisins. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.

Bake for 15 minutes.
Makes approximately 5 dozen, dependent on the size you make your cookies.

Don't like raisins, use any dried fruit you prefer, cranberries, mulberries, figs.
Nuts can be any nut you prefer or optional.
