2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. soda - scant
1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
2 tsp. butter
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together sugar, buttermilk and soda. Cook 5 minutes. Add 1 1/2 c.
pecans. Cook to the soft ball stage on candy thermometer. Add 2 tsp.
butter and 1 tsp. vanilla. Beat and drop on greased cookies sheet or wax paper.
* After you take it off stove, beat with Wooden Spoon, not mixer,
in a cold water bath until it loses it's sheen.
Drop on cookie sheet or wax paper immediately.

* Cold water bath - Have large bowl of ice water very cold.
Set hot pan of ingredients halfway in ice bath while mixing quickly with wooden spoon until mixture looses the sheen.
