3 c. dry pinto beans, sorted and washed
9 c. water
5 chicken bouillon cubes
1 tsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. bacon grease
1/2 yellow onion, peeled and left whole
1/4 c. butter
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/2 c. milk
Reserved juices from pot
Shredded cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Place dry beans in bottom of crock pot. Pour water over top. Add bouillon cubes, garlic powder, bacon grease, and salt. Place onion half on top. Cover; cook 8 hours or until beans are very soft. Remove onion. Drain and reserve liquid. Put beans in large bowl, add butter, chili powder, and milk. Mash or mix until smooth, adding as much reserved liquid as needed to make them creamy. Top with cheese.
