1 c. butter, softened
1 1/4 c. powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tarter
1/8 tsp. salt.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture. Shape into two 5 inch rolls; wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1 hour until firm. Unwrap and cut into 1/4 inch slices. Place two inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
