6 or 8 apples (not "Delicious")
1 C. sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 T. flour
1 T. butter
cinnamon to taste

pastry for 2-crust pie

Peel and slice apples
Mix dry ingredients together and add to apples
Line pie plate with pastry and fill with apple mixture
Dot with butter and cover with top crust
Bake in very hot oven 450 F. oven for 15 minutes; reduce temperature to 350 F
and bake 45 minutes longer.

Most apples cook down smoothly. "Delicious" do not. I made a pie with "Delicious" apples and it was full of little hard lumps. My uncle came into the kitchen later with an old broken axe and said, "I see you've made pies before."
