3 c. flour
1 ½ c. sugar
¾ t. salt
1 t. cloves
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. baking soda
1 c. margarine, at room temperature
2 T. molasses
1 t. vanilla
2 large eggs
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. chopped, stewed figs
1 ½ c. chopped nuts
2 t. lemon zest

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together first 6 ingredients. Add margarine, molasses, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes. Add eggs and beat for 2 more minutes. Stir in dates and figs and nuts and lemon zest. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. And bake in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes. Makes about 8 dozen.
Note: these are soft and will stick together if packed one on top of another.
