In a large bowl thoroughly mix together: 1c. flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add water and oil and beat until the mixture forms a soft dough and turn out onto a floured surface. Knead in remaining flour and continue kneading until dough is smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes). Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top of dough. Cover and let rise until doubled (about 45 minutes). Punch dough down and divide in half for thick crust pizza or thirds for thin crust. Press dough out onto cornmeal covered baking sheet and add desired toppings. Bake for about 35 minutes in a 375 degree oven.
Note: the dough can be made several days ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator until needed.
