1 1/4 lb ground chuck
1 med. onion, grated
1 egg
8 soda crackers, crushed
1/2 to 3/4 cup water
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup onion, chopped
2 T. butter, margarine or oil
2 cups Vernor's ginger ale
1 cup catsup
1/2 cup brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine beef, onion, egg, crackers and enough water to absorb cracker crumbs. Season with s & p to taste and roll into bite size balls. Brown meatballs and chopped onions in fat and drain on a paper towel. In large skillet, stir together ginger ale, catsup and brown sugar; add meatballs and onion and simmer lightly 50-60 mins until sauce has thickened and reduced. As sauce thickens, stir frequently to prevent burning.
Makes about 100 meatballs.
