1 large head of green cabbage
2 c pearl rice (uncooked)
salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp of margarine
1 medium onion, finely chopped
3/4 c cereal cream
bacon bits

Directions:
Remove core from cabbage. Place cabbage in a large pot and cover completely with water and simmer. Once leaves are softened remove from water.

In a large pot combine water, rice, salt and pepper and cook as directed on rice package.

In a small frying pan on low-medium, heat, melt the 2 tablespoons of margarine. Add the onion and fry until the onion is soft and translucent. Add the onion mixture to the bowl of rice.

To assemble:
Set up your cabbage roll rolling station with the cabbage leaves, the bowl of rice and a spoon, a cutting board and knife. To roll the cabbage rolls, cut each cabbage leaf in 3-4 small pieces and cut off any rough stem remaining on the leaf. Place a heaping teaspoon of rice on the bottom of the cabbage leaf. Roll it up while pinching in the sides. Place the cabbage rolls in a casserole dish so that they are quite snug. Continue until you run out of rice or cabbage.

These freeze very well To prepare from frozen state:

Pour the cream over the cabbage rolls and sprinkle with bacon bits. Cover the casserole dish with a lid or with tin foil and bake in a preheated 350º oven for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until cabbage is tender.

This dish also works well in a crock pot to save oven space for a big family meal.
