1 Gallon Cucumber
6 c Sugar
1 tbsp. Mixed Spice
1 1/2 quart Vinegar
1 c Water

Directions:
Directions:
Wash and dry fresh cucumbers, cover with brine (1 c salt to 1 gallon water), let stand for 24 hours.
Drain, Puncture each cucumber with a needle, 2-3 times.
Simmer (do not boil) 1/2 sugar, the spices, vinegar and water for 30 minutes. Add cucumbers
Simmer 15 minutes, Let stand for 2 days, Drain off the liquid but save it.
Pack the pickles in hot Ball jars. Add the remaining sugar to the liquid. Boil 5 minutes. Pour over the pickles while the liquid is hot. Seal.
