1 1/2 C whole milk, scalded
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 C raisins or chopped apricots (optional)
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
With a fork, beat eggs slightly; stir in the milk, sugar, vanilla and raisins. Pour into 4 (6 ounce) custard cups. Place cups in a large skillet; pour boiling water 2/3 of the way up the sides. Bring water to a boil again. Reduce heat, cover and simmer about 12 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center of the custard comes out clean. (Do not boil water or the custard will not be smooth.) Remove custard from the water and sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve warm or cold.
