1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter melted
1/2 c. warm water (105-115 degrees)
2 pkg. active dry yeast
2 large eggs, beaten
4 1/2 cups flour (more or less )
additional butter for brushing on tops

Directions:
Scald milk, stir in sugar, salt, butter. set aside and cool to lukewarm. in large bowl mix warm water and yeast. stir until dissolved. stir in lukewarm milk mixture, beaten eggs, and half flour. beat until smooth. add remaining flour gradually, mixing as you go. you may need more or less flour depending on humidity in air. dough should be elastic and stiff but not dry.
knead until smooth and very elastic. butter inside of large bowl and turn in dough to rise until double coating all sides of dough ball. cover and place in warm place to rise about 1 hour. punch down. to make rolls, pinch off 2-3 T. and shape into ball. place each one in buttered muffin tin. cover rolls and rise again until doubled. about 1 hour. preheat over to 375º. bake rolls 20-25 minutes.brush tops with butter while hot.
