1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup sifted flour
1 tsp double acting baking powder
1/2 cup corn starch
2 eggs

Filling and topping:
1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries
2/3 cup whipping cream
1 egg white
sugar to taste

Cake:
Cream margarine and sugar until light and soft. Sift flour and baking powder with corn starch. Add beaten eggs to creamed margarine. Then fold in four mixture with metal spoon. Divide batter into 2 - 7 inch lined round cake pans. Flatten on top. Bake for 20 minutes in preheated 375º oven until crisp and golden. (top oven rack is best)

Filling and topping:
Prepare strawberries, whipping cream and egg white in bowl and whip together. Sweeten if needed. Spread on short cake. Top with second short cake and top with the rest of strawberry mixture.
