Ingredients:

1c. Soft Shortening
1/2 c. White sugar
1/2 c. Brown sugar
2 Eggs
1 1/2 tsp. tsp. vanilla
Mix these together.
Add:
2 3/4 c. Sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c chopped pecans
1 tsp. salt

Mix well. Make into long rolls and wrap in wax paper, foil, or put on plastic bag and chill. When ready to bake, slice and bake on cookie sheets for 7 minutes at 400.

Joan Hegi brought these cookies to Vel after her foot surgery. Vel asked for the recipe and Joan dictated it to Judy, who was there. Vel made them a lot because they were good and easy. Sometimes she would keep some of the rolls in her fridge so she could bake them fresh on the spot if she needed something in a hurry.
