1 stick butter or margarine
1/2 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
5 egg yolks
5 egg whites - stiffly beaten
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 small can angel flake coconut
1 cup chopped pecans

Cream Cheese Frosting:
1 - 8 oz pkg. cream cheese
1/2 stick butter or margarine
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter or margarine and shortening. Add sugar and beat until smooth. Add egg yolks and beat well.

Combine flour and soda and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla, coconut, and nuts. fold in egg whites. Pour batter into three greased and floured 8 inch cake pans. Bake at 350º for 25 minutes or until done.

Frosting:
Beat cream cheese and butter or margarine until smooth. Add sugar and mix well. Add vanilla and beat until smooth. Spread on cooled cake. Sprinkle with pecans.
