2 Tbsp yeast
½ cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup eggs, beaten well
2 cups milk, scalded
1½ cups cold water
Grated rind of 1 lemon
9 to 10 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve the 1 teaspoon sugar in 1/2 cup warm water and sprinkle the yeast over it. Let stand for 1O minutes. Beat together with the remaining ingredients. Mix and let rise, until doubled in bulk. Punch down .and let rise again, then make into desired loaves. Let rise and bake in 350°F oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
