1 cup honey
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp cloves
½ tsp nutmeg
1 cup seedless raisins
½ cup currants
½ cup chopped dates
1 cup chopped walnuts
2¾ cups sifted flour (approximately)
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
½ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
4 eggs, separated
¼ cup strong coffee

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the honey with the spices; bring to a boil and cool. Combine the fruits and nuts; sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of the flour and mix well. Sift the remaining flour with the baking soda, baking powder and salt. Cream the butter with the sugar. Add the egg yolks, one at a time, and beat well after each addition. Stir in the lukewarm honey. Add the flour and coffee alternately; mix well. Mix in the fruit/nut mixture. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the batter. Line a baking pan with brown paper and grease it. Spoon the batter into the pan. Bake in a slow 300°F oven for about 1½ hours, or until done. Allow it to stand for a few days before serving.
