2 Tbsp yeast
2 tsp sugar
1 cup lukewarm water
1 cup warm water
1 cup scalded milk
2 cups flour
¾ cup butter or oil
3 eggs
4 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla
6½ cups flour, enough to make a soft dough
¼ cup sugar
1 tsp salt

Poppy Seed Filling: 2 cups poppy seeds 1 egg white
½ cup sugar
4 Tbsp honey
1 tsp cinnamon
½ cup chopped walnuts or raisins (optional)

Prune Filling: 1 lb prunes
Sugar (to taste)
¼ cup crushed walnuts Dash cinnamon
1 tsp lemon rind

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast and sugar in 1 cup of lukewarm water, then add 1 cup of warm water, scalded milk and 2 cups of flour. Beat until smooth. Cover bowl and put in a warm place to rise, until light and bubbly. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, yolks, salt and vanilla. Beat until light. Combine with first mixture and knead to a soft dough. Add flour; mix well and knead. Allow to rise, until doubled in bulk. Punch down and let it rise again. Roll out on a floured board; cut with round cookie cutter. Place a teaspoonful of filling in each piece and seal edges. Allow to rise, then fry in Mazola oil.

Poppy Seed Filling: Boil poppy seeds for 1/2 hour. Drain. Let stand for 1 hour, then put through the finest blade of food chopper. Add egg white, sugar, honey and cinnamon. Mix well.

Prune Filling: Boil prunes until softened; drain, pit and chop. Add the rest of the ingredients; mash with a fork until smooth and well blended.
