2 1/4 cups milk
4 to 5 cups dried bread
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
4 eggs
raisins (optional)

Sauce for the Bread Pudding:

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp. water
1 egg yolk, whipped
whiskey (about a shot or less)

Directions for the bread mixture:

Place bread in an ungreased 2 qt. dish. Sprinkle raisins over bread. Mix milk, sugar, cinnamon and eggs. Pour over bread. Bake 45 min. at 350 degrees.

Directions for the sauce:

Melt butter in a saucepan. Mix in the sugar and water. When sugar dissolves, mix in egg yolk. Bring to a boil. Add whiskey. Boil for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour over the baked bread.
