1 c. shortening
1 ¼ c sugar
½ c. brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk (1 tsp. vinegar)
2 raw apples
2 ½ c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla

Topping:
½ c brown sugar
½ c nuts
2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening & sugar, add beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk to first mixture. Fold in apples and put in 9x13 pan.
Topping:
Crumble on top of batter & bake 350º for 45-55 minutes.
