1 cup sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
6-8 cloves
1 vanilla bean, halved lengthwise
the zest of a lemon
the zest of a lime
the zest of an orange
the juice of the orange
2 bottles red wine

Directions:
Directions:
Combine 1 cup of wine with all other dry ingredients and bring to a near boil over medium high heat. Stir occasionally, until sugar is dissolved and liquid had cooked down to a nice, thickish syrup. Turn down the heat and add the rest of the wine. Keep at a low temperature and heat until warm. Serve!

Once the "syrup" is made, I pour it in a crock pot, add the wine and then keep it on low all night, while drinking it. Sometimes I start the "extra" wine in the crock pot before the syrup is ready so it's all warm and ready to drink almost immediately after combining it all in the crock pot!
