2 quarts fresh strawberries, stemmed and sliced
2 tbsp sugar
2- 1/4 tsp almond or Amaretto extract, divided use
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, at room temp
1 c dairy sour cream
2 c powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 large angel food or pound cake, torn into pieces
1 (16 oz) tub whipped topping or 1 pint heavy cream, chipped and sweetened
with 2-4 tbsp sugar

Set aside some berries for garnish. Mix remaining berries with sugar and 2 tsp almond extract. Set aside. Mix cream cheese, sour cream, powdered sugar, vanilla and remaining 1/4 tsp almond extract. Fold in whipped cream.
In a trifle bowl, layer 1/2 cake, 1/2 berries and 1/2 cream cheese mixture: repeat layers. Garnish with remaining berries. Refrigerate until serving time: when serving, make sure you dig deep into the bowl to get some of each layer in serving bowl.
