2 c. heaped, chopped dates
2/3 c. water (or more)
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. rolled oats
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
Directions:
Directions:
Bring dates, water, and lemon juice to a boil. Cook until mushy. Add more water if necessary.

Measure the rest of the ingredients into a bowl. Cut in butter with pastry bender. Press half of the crumbs into a 9x9 or 7x11 pan. Cover with date mixture. Sprinkle rest of crumbs over. Bake at 350ºF for 30 minutes.
