MEATBALLS
2 pounds ground beef (lean)
1 cup soft bread crumbs
1 egg
¼ cup milk
1 medium onion (finely chopped)
½ green pepper (finely chopped)
1 clove garlic (crushed) or garlic powder (equiv)
salt and pepper (to taste)
1¼ tsp. soy sauce
2 tbsp. of oil (for cooking)
SAUCE
3 tbsp. of cornstarch
¼ cup Heinz Apple-cider vinegar
¼ tsp. ground ginger
½ cups soy sauce
½ cup water
12 to 15 tbsp. (¾ cup equal 12 tbsp.) of brown sugar
syrup from 1 (13½ ounce) can of pineapple tidbits
½ cup finely sliced celery
½ green pepper cut into thin strips

Directions:

Mix all ingredients, except oil, until well blended. Shape into bite sized balls and brown on all sides in oil. Drain on paper towels.In a 2-quart saucepan, combine cornstarch, vinegar, ginger, soy sauce, water, 12 tbsp. brown sugar. Cook ingredients until thickened, then add pineapple tidbits, celery, and pepper. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes to cook celery and green pepper. Taste sauce. If you want it sweeter, add 2 to 3 more tbsp. of brown sugar and stir. Add meatballs while sauce is warm and stir gently to coat meatballs. Serve warm.
