2 1/2 c. flour
1 t. salt
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
2/3 c. milk
1 c. crushed cornflakes
5 large apples, peeled and sliced
1 c. sugar
1 t. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour and salt together.
Cream shortening and add egg.
Blend in flour mixture and milk.
With half of the dough roll into a rectangle about 17/12 and place in 15/10 jelly roll pan.
Build pastry up on sides.
Mix cornflakes, apples, sugar and cinnamon together. Spread over pastry.
Roll out other half of dough and place over apples. Moisten edges of pastry with milk and pinch edges.
Beat 1 egg white stiff and brush over top crust.
Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes and 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
While warm spread with 1 c. powdered sugar, 2 T. water (warm) and 1/2 t. vanilla.
