3/4 c unsalted butter
1/2 c dark brown sugar
1/2 c granulated sugar
1/4 c molasses
1 large egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 c flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp cloves

Directions:
In a large bowl cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla beat until incorporated. In a separate bowl whisk flour, baking soda, salt and spices. Add the butter mixture and mix well

Cover and chill for 30 minutes.

Place some white sugar in a medium bowl and set aside. Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Roll each ball in the white sugar to coat

Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper. Place each ball on baking sheet 2 inches apart. With the bottom of a glass flatten cookies slightly

Bake in a preheated 350º oven for 12-15 minutes or until firm and dry on the top. Cool on a rack

Note: The longer you cook them the more crisp they will be.
