1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. milk

Directions:
Boil chicken with 1 tsp salt and bay leaves until tender enough to fall off the bone (at least one hour). Remove chicken from broth and cool. Set broth aside. Mix flour, baking powder, 2 tsp salt, and milk to make a soft dough. Sprinkle flour on dough board and pat or roll dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into strips. Drop strips into boiling broth. Cook on very low heat for 1 1/2 hours or longer. Debone and chop or pull chicken. Add chicken to dumplings early in cooking time. Salt and pepper to taste. Be careful - it will scorch easily.
