1/3 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed and divided
1 egg, beaten
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. cinnamon, divided
1/2 c. buttermilk (milk + 1 tbsp. vinegar)
1/4 c. finely chopped pecans
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg

In a mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar, and 1/4 C brown sugar. Add egg. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Beat well. Spread into a greased 8-inch square pan. Combine 1/4 C brown sugar, pecans, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl. Sprinkle over batter. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 40-45 minutes.
