1 2/3 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
2/3 c. cocoa
1 1/2 c. water
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. baking powder
2 large eggs

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and flour baking pans (either one 9x13x2 inch, 2 9-inch rounds, or 3 8-inch rounds). Beat all ingredients with an electric mixer on low for 30 seconds. Pour into pans. Bake rectangle for 40-45 minutes and rounds for 30-35 minutes. Cool completely and then frost.
