2 c. oatmeal
3 c. boiling water
1 c. margarine or butter
2 c. brown sugar
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. salt

Topping:
9 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. coconut
1 1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. milk or cream

Directions:
Directions:
Pour the boiling water over the oats. Mix and let stand until cool. Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and oats. Blend well. Add flour and soda. Add cinnamon and salt; stir well. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Make topping.

Topping:
Mix topping ingredients and spread on cake as soon as it is taken from the oven. Put under the broiler for 3-5 minutes. It will burn if not carefully watched. This cake is best when prepared in long cake pan.
