5 c. tomatoes, peeled, chopped, and drained (put them in a colander or tea strainer for 30 minutes)
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/4 c. oil
2 1/2 tsp. salt
3 cloves garlic (or more to taste)
1 tsp. basil
3/4 c. tomato paste
1 c. onion (or more to taste)

Directions:
Combine tomatoes, salt, basil, tomato paste, brown sugar, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then simmer. Meanwhile, fry garlic and onion in oil. Add to sauce. Simmer for 25-90 minutes until reaches desired thickness.
