Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 c. self-rising flour, sifted
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. whole milk or buttermilk (approximate)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450º F. Form well in center of sifted flour. Place shortening in center of well. Add milk and gradually pull flour from sides, adding more milk as needed, and gently bring together and form dough. Do not overwork or biscuits will be tough. As soon as dough *just* comes together, gently press out to about 1/2" thick and cut with a floured biscuit cutter. Place on lightly greased baking sheet, with biscuits barely touching one another, and bake for 10-12 minutes. Serve with sweet cream butter and/or honey.
