"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

4 c. Flour, divided
2 T. Butter or Margarine
2 T. Sugar
1/2 tsp. Salt
2 pkg. Dry Yeast

Directions:
Mix 3 cups of flour with butter, sugar, salt and yeast. Heat water and mustard to 125º-130ºF. Stir warm water mixture into flour mixture. Mix in enough of remaining flour to make a soft dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 4 minutes. On a greased baking sheet, spread dough into a 14"x12" rectangle. Sprinkle ham, cheese and pickles length-wise on center third of dough. Make cuts in dough at 1" intervals from the filling to dough edges on both sides creating strips. Bring strips from opposite sides of filling together, cross and place ends at an angle across filling, creating a "braided" look. Cover with a towel. Place a large shallow pan on the counter and fill half full with boiling water. Place baking sheet with dough over the pan. Let dough rise, covered for 15 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 375º for 25 minutes.
