Directions:
Mix lukewarm milk and yeast in a bowl. Let stand 5 minutes. Add the butter, sugar and salt. Beat 2 minutes on low speed of mixer. Add 1-1/2 cups of flour and one egg white and mix. Add remaining 1 cup of flour. Put dough on a floured board. Knead for about 5 minutes adding a little flour, if necessary. Let rise for 1 hour. Punch down dough and shape dough in round balls that look like hamburger rolls. Sprinkle greased pan with cornmeal and arrange balls of dough on pan 2-inches apart. Let rise until doubled in size. Bake 400-degrees oven. Put a pan of boiling water in bottom of oven beneath rolls. Bake about 15 to 20 minutes. Oven should be kept steamy while cooking. Makes about 8 to 10 rolls. Sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds, if desired.
